Manchester United are now considering making a second signing in midfield after they landed Mason Mount. A number of players could leave United this summer, and they are willing to prepare in case they do.
Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount will be announced today, but the feeling is United could add more in midfield. A number of their midfielders have been linked with other clubs, and bids are expected soon.
United have some players ready on a list if they do decide to sign another midfielder.
Another Midfield Signing For United?
As reported by Tyrone Marshall of MEN, Manchester United could sign another midfielder this summer.
If they do add to the midfield, it’s likely to be a defensive midfielder. Sofyan Amrabat is of interest, but no moves on player or club side have been made as of yet.
With Casemiro turning 32 in February, United need to start thinking about the successor to the Brazilian. Romeo Lavia was of interest but United have not made any attempt to sign the Belgian as of yet. Amrabat was contacted in January but Fiorentina would not allow him to leave.
Erik ten Hag managed Amrabat at Utrecht so there is a chance United attempt to sign the Moroccan. Other targets include Martin Zubimendi and Alan Varela. Zubimendi is unlikely to leave Sociedad, but Varela could be a possible signing the club make.
United made a bid for Andre Onana last night and that is currently their priority. They will turn attention to a striker if they sign Onana. A midfielder is felt to be something that happens if sales are made.
Scott Mctominay has been linked with a move to Brighton, and Fred has always been linked with a move to Fulham. Donny Van De Beek has interest from Roma.
