Newcastle United are attempting to offload tricky winger Allan Saint-Maximin so they put the money towards buying Leicester City winger Harvey Barnes according to a report.
The richest club in Europe need to be able to balance the books due to financial fair play hence why they are considering selling Saint-Maximin who plays in the same position as Barnes.
Saint-Maximin’s game time decreased last season with Eddie Howe preferring other players to the 26-year-old but the manager still insisted that he wants to keep him at the club however if an offer comes in he will not stand in his way.
Barnes has been made a top target by Newcastle who enquired about him last season but Leicester City put a £60 million price tag on their winger but due to their relegation they are now asking for £40 million.
Newcastle United will be hoping for around the same price for Saint-Maximin with the 26-year-old having a lot of interest from Saudi Arabia and also from some European sides.
He played 31 games in all competitions last season and only scored one goal whilst getting five assists compared to Barnes who managed to score 13 goals for a side who got relegated
So it makes sense why Newcastle are happy to lose Saint-Maximin for Barnes as they look to compete amongst the very best in the Champions League.
