Liverpool are in the market for a young centre back this summer and according to a report Netherlands U21 international Perr Schuurs has now emerged as a top target for the Reds.
The Torino centre back had a strong season in the 2022/23 campaign, which was his first at the club, as he played 36 games in all competitions with Torino finishing in 10th place in Serie A.
At 23-years-old Schuurs already has plenty of experience of being at the top level having won the Eredivisie three times whilst he was at Ajax as well as winning the KNVB Cup twice.
Liverpool believe Schuurs can develop into a top centre back and he is also seen as a cheaper option to some other players that have been linked.
Levi Colwill is one of those players that Liverpool have a very strong interest in however Chelsea do not want to sell him.
Even if they do allow him to leave the fee would be at least £60 million which may be out of Liverpool’s price range hence why Schuurs is an alternative.
Joe Gomez and Joel Matip still remain at the club with some rumours stating that they may leave to make room for another central defender but with Liverpool moving to a three at the back system Jurgen Klopp seemingly wants more cover at the back.
Andy Robertson played as the left centre back in the run-in last season so having a natural central defender in the position is Liverpool’s priority right now.
As well as that a defensive midfielder is on the radar with Romeo Lavia being the main target for that position.
