Liverpool midfielder Thiago Alcantara is one of the players being monitored by Barcelona this summer.
That’s according to Sport who claim that the 32-year-old is one of three midfielders being monitored as Xavi looks to bolster his midfield options.
The Spanish international has just one year left on his contract at Anfield and was expected to leave for free next summer bringing to an end a four-year spell at the club after his move from Bayern Munich in 2020.
After the signings of Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai however, some reports have suggested that the Reds hierarchy would consider a suitable offer for the midfielder.
Sport claims that Thiago is seen as ‘interesting’ by the La Liga giants due to his versatility in midfield. The Spanish outlet also suggests that Giovani Lo Celso (Tottenham Hotspur) and Oriol Remeu (Girona) are also options being explored by the Catalans.
Could Thiago Alcantara Move To Barcelona?
As a former teammate of Thiago, Barcelona manager Xavi knows the technical ability and control that he can bring to a team. With just one year left on his current deal, therefore, a move cannot be ruled out if a decent fee can be secured.
It would be a shame for Liverpool fans however as there is no doubt he still has a lot to offer and could excel alongside Jurgen Klopp’s new signings in midfield.
