Liverpool are preparing a formal offer for Southampton midfielder Romeo Lavia according to a report.

The 19-year-old has been linked with a move to Anfield over recent weeks after impressing for the Saints in the Premier League this season.

After the signings of Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai, the talented midfielder appeared to be the perfect next target for the Anfield hierarchy, with the Belgian able to offer competition to Fabinho in the number six role.

Liverpool’s plans for the summer transfer market were thrown into chaos yesterday however with Saudi clubs trying to sign the Brazilian and Jordan Henderson.

Fabinho is the subject of a £40million offer from Al-Ittihad whilst skipper Henderson has been offered a lucrative deal by Steven Gerrard’s Al-Ettifaq.

It appears however that the Anfield hierarchy still plans to press ahead with a move for the impressive Lavia. That’s according to Football Insider who claim that sources have told them that Jurgen Klopp is pushing hard for a formal offer to be made.

The outlet suggests however that any attempts to secure a deal with the Saints may be dependent on both Fabinho and Henderson being sold. A busy few days await.
