Saudi club Al Ittihad have submitted an official bid of £40m for Liverpool midfielder Fabinho who was left out of the club’s squad for a training camp in Germany, according to BBC.
The Reds received the offer for Brazil International on Friday night and a decision to remove the 29-year-old was taken between the club and player.
If the deal goes through, Fabinho will join other Premier League stars such as former teammate Roberto Firmino, N’Golo Kanté, and Kalidou Koulibaly in Saudi Arabia.
Fabinho joined Liverpool from Monaco in 2018 and has emerged as one of the best defensive midfielders in the world during his time at Anfield. He has racked up 219 appearances, scored 11 times, and recorded 10 assists across all competitions.
He has helped Jurgen Klopp’s side clinch the Champions League, Premier League, Club World Cup, Super Cup, Emirates FA Cup, and Carabao Cup.
Fabinho could be joined in Saudi Arabia by his skipper Jordan Henderson who is attracting interest from Al Ettifaq. The 33-year-old has already agreed personal terms with the club, however, the Saudi Pro League side are yet to meet Liverpool’s asking price.
Despite the interest, the England midfielder is travelling to Germany with the rest of the Reds’ squad. Liverpool have spent £95m on midfielders Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai, however, they are expected to add at least two more.
Romeo Lavia, Sofyan Amrabat, Bayern Ryan Gravenberch, and Kalvin Phillips have all been linked with a move to Anfield this summer.
