Liverpool are interested in Crystal Palace midfielder Cheick Doucoure according to a report.

Jurgen Klopp was rocked last week by the news that he could lose both Jordan Henderson and Fabinho to Saudi with the Reds skipper reported to be closing in on a move to Steven Gerrard’s Al-Ettifaq and the Brazilian the subject of a £40million offer from Al-Ittihad.

Whilst this was expected to be an important summer in terms of Klopp’s midfield rebuild, it appears that the departure of two of his most trusted players was not anticipated.

Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai had been brought in to soften the blow of losing Naby Keita, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, and James Milner but further reinforcements may be needed if Liverpool are to lose two of their most important players over recent years.

Romeo Lavia of Southampton continues to be linked with a move to Anfield but there are no signs that a deal is close. According to Football Insider, however, sources have told them that Reds chiefs are considering a move for Mali international Doucoure.

The 23-year-old signed for The Eagles last summer for a fee of around £20million and has impressed since his arrival at Selhurst Park. He is under contract at Palace until June 2027 and according to Transfermarkt.co.uk has a market value of £30million.

The Transfer Room Verdict On Liverpool Links To Cheick Doucoure

Liverpool will need to act fast if Henderson and Fabinho do depart with pre-season now well underway.

Doucoure offers an interesting option to the Anfield hierarchy in terms of his age, playing profile, and price tag. It would not be a surprise therefore to see them make a move for a player like him although Reds fans are likely to want a bigger name.
