Liverpool midfielder Fabinho is set to undergo his medical today ahead of a move to Al-Ittihad according to a report.
The defensive midfielder had looked set to stay at Anfield for at least one more season but news emerged last week that the Saudi club was preparing a bid for the 29-year-old.
A transfer fee of £40million has been rumoured which is a figure that the Anfield hierarchy have clearly found too tempting to turn down off the back of a poor campaign.
Jurgen Klopp looks set to be dealt a double blow however with skipper Jordan Henderson also reported to be close to a move to Steven Gerrard’s Al-Ettifaq leaving the Liverpool manager with work to do as the new season approaches.
Whilst the two clubs are still to agree on a deal for the 33-year-old, Fabinho’s departure appears to be edging closer.
Atmania are reporting that the Brazilian will undertake his medical today which could mean an announcement regarding the move is not far away, bringing an end to five glorious years at Anfield where he won everything on offer.
The Transfer Room’s Verdict On The Likely Departure Of Fabinho
It will be sad to see Fabinho depart after he contributed so much to the success at Liverpool under Klopp.
His drop-off in form last season was alarming however and assuming the offer is for £40million, it is impossible to turn down.
