Erik Ten Hag has told Harry Maguire he wants to keep him at Manchester United. Just a week on from the news that the Englishman will no longer be the captain, the Dutchman has informed the player he wants him to remain at Old Trafford.
Maguire has been rumoured to be a player listed for transfer this summer. There are a number of clubs interested in Maguire in this window including West Ham United and Tottenham Hotspur.
However, a final decision has not been made due to the fact no concrete approaches have been made. United will ask for around £35-£50million for the centre back if he is to leave.
However, Erik Ten Hag may have another plan for Maguire this season. A new report states that the manager wants to keep the centre back at the club next season.
Harry Maguire To Stay At Manchester United?
The new report from TalkSport states that Ten Hag has told Maguire that he ‘wants him to stay’ at Old Trafford. The full details from the radio outlet state;
“Erik ten Hag has told Harry Maguire he does not want him to leave Man United despite stripping him of the captain’s armband – relations between them are amicable.”
It is perhaps worth noting that similar briefs have been published in the past. Outlets reported that Ten Hag wanted the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and David De Gea to stay.
Both players left United despite positive noise surrounding their futures at the club under the former Ajax boss.
