Manchester United are now closing in on the signing of Zion Suzuki from Urawa Red Diamonds in Japan. This comes after the club announced the signing of Andre Onana from Inter Milan today.
With Dean Henderson tipped to join Nottingham Forest and Matej Kovar likely to go on loan to Sparta Prague, United need a new number two. The club have been interested in Suzuki for some time and are now expected to make him the number two.
The fee for Suzuki is around £5million, a J League record.
United Close To Suzuki:
As reported by Japanese journalist Marco Molla, Manchester United are close to signing Zion Suzuki from Urawa Red Diamonds. The Red’s want the Japanese goalkeeper to be part of the first-team squad.
Dean Henderson never wanted to play second keeper to Andre Onana this season and Matej Kovar is thought to be share the same views. Suzuki is 20-years old, and going from the J League to the Premier League is a life changing move.
United will break the J League transfer record if the seal a £5million move for the Japan keeper, who was born in the USA and has a Ghanaian mother.
The Red’s have scouted Suzuki for some time. He is known for his ability with the ball at his feet which is something Erik ten Hag values in a goalkeeper. United had other options to sign as second keeper, but they now look to have settled on Suzuki.
News will become clearer in the coming days but as far as the Japan media are aware, Manchester United are close to Zion Suzuki.
