Saudi Pro League club Al Nassr are set to sign ex-Liverpool forward Sadio Mane from Bayern Munich, according to renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano.
Bayern have accepted the verbal proposal from Al Nassr after advanced talks on Thursday. The paperwork will be checked on the player’s side and then Mane will undergo his medical before putting pen to paper on a three-year deal.
Mane was informed by Thomas Tuchel that he was not in his plans for next season after enduring a difficult time in Germany following his switch from Anfield last summer in a deal worth around £35m.
The 31-year-old, who is one of the club’s top earners scored 12 goals and recorded six assists in 38 games across all competitions as the Bavarians beat Borussia Dortmund to the Bundesliga title on a dramatic final day.
His bust-up with club teammate Leroy Sane during their Champions League defeat to Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium was one of the low points of Mane’s career in Germany.
He will become Al Nassr’s fifth summer signing following the arrivals of Reuben Neves, Seko Fofana, Marcelo Brozovic, and Alex Telles. Mane is expected to start alongside Cristiano Ronaldo in attack next season for the club.
Al Nassr will target the league title in the 2023/24 season after they missed out on winning the Saudi Pro League last season by five points, finishing as runners-up behind champions Al-Ittihad.
Mane has previously featured for Metz, RB Salzburg and Southampton. During his time at Anfield, the Senegal international scored 120 goals in 269 games, finishing the 2021/22 season with 23 goals in all competitions.
He helped Liverpool win several titles including the Champions League, Club World Cup, Super Cup, Premier League, and Emirates FA Cup.
