Manchester United are now close to fully completing a deal to sign Rasmus Hojlund from Atalanta. The player is now on his way to Manchester to complete his medical.
United will pay an initial £64million for Hojlund, which could rise to around £73million depending on performances. The Red’s will be very happy to pay £73million if the add-on requirements are triggered.
The Dane is United’s first striker signing under 30 since Romelu Lukaku in 2017.
As reported by Fabrizio Romano, Rasmus Hojlund is now travelling to England to have his Manchester United medical.
The medical will be completed later today and Hojlund may have his media duties ahead of the announcement. That announcement is likely to come tomorrow.
Hojlund is a big coup for Erik ten Hag, who wanted a striker this summer after playing most of last season without one. Hojlund scored 9 goals in the equivalent of 20 90 minute matches last season.
The feeling is more signings will come after Hojlund. Sofyan Amrabat remains a target, and Zion Suzuki has also not been ruled out to replace Dean Henderson should he leave.
An exciting day if you’re a United fan.
