Al Nassr have confirmed the signing of ex-Liverpool forward Sadio Mane from Bayern Munich as the Saudi spending spree continues this summer.

Mane has signed a four-year deal with the club and will earn more than £34m per year tax-free playing for the Saudi Pro League side with a wage equivalent to more than £650,000 per week.

The Senegalese only joined Bayern last summer from Liverpool in a deal worth around £35m and endured a difficult time in Germany.

He scored 12 goals and recorded six assists in 38 games across all competitions as the Bavarians beat Borussia Dortmund to the Bundesliga title on a dramatic final day.

His bust-up with club teammate Leroy Sane during their Champions League defeat to Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium was one of the low points of Mane’s career in Germany.

Mane travelled on Bayern’s pre-season tour of Asia but was left out of Saturday’s friendly win over Kawasaki Frontale in Tokyo.

He becomes Al Nassr’s fifth summer signing following the arrivals of Reuben Neves, Seko Fofana, Marcelo Brozovic, and Alex Telles.

The 31-year-old is expected to play alongside Cristiano Ronaldo next season as Al Nassr set sights on winning the league title next season after they missed out on clinching the Saudi Pro League last term by five points, finishing as runners-up behind champions Al-Ittihad.

“We want to thank Sadio Mané for the past season. It certainly wasn’t an easy year for him, getting injured just before the World Cup and being unable to take part in it with Senegal, who he’d previously led to a first triumph at the Africa Cup of Nations and World Cup qualification,” Bayern CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen said.

“Because of his long lay-off, he also couldn’t have the impact at FC Bayern that we all, and he himself had hoped for. That’s why we came to the joint decision that he’ll begin a new chapter in his career and make a new start at a different club. We wish him all the best and lots of success for the challenges ahead at Al Nassr.”

Mane is set to make his league debut against Steven Gerrard’s Al-Ettifaq on Sunday, August 14, where he could come up against former team-mate Jordan Henderson.
