Liverpool are not the mystery club who have submitted an offer worth over £80m for Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo, according to This is Anfield.
The Athletic reported on Wednesday that the Seagulls have recently received an offer for the 21-year-old exceeding those from Chelsea who are have had four bids rejected by the club.
However, This Is Anfield claims that the Reds have not made any offer for Caicedo and are keen on sealing a deal for Southampton midfielder Romeo Lavia.
The Saints rejected Liverpool’s improved bid to sign the 19-year-old, standing firm on their £50m valuation. The Merseysiders’ first offer worth £34m plus £4m in add-ons was also turned down by Russell Martin’s outfit.
The Belgium U-21 international is also attracting interest from Chelsea, Arsenal, and Manchester United, however, he wants to move to Anfield.
If a comprise cannot be reached with Southampton in the coming days, Liverpool will be considering alternative options which include Fluminense’s Andre.
It is believed that Jurgen Klopp’s side have made contact with the Brazilian club over the 22-year-old, who is valued at around £20m.
But Fluminense are unwilling to allow him to leave until the end of their season, making an arrival before January unlikely unless Liverpool pay more than his asking price as reported.
Lavia is Liverpool’s top priority and they are preparing a third offer for the young midfielder which will meet the Saints’ expectations in terms of the fee.
Liverpool have already signed Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai and are still in the market to make further midfield reinforcements following the exit of James Milner, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, and Naby Keita in June.
Jordan Henderson and Fabinho who were both part of Klopp’s plan for next season have also left the club to continue their playing career in Saudi Pro League.
