Manchester United have been linked with a move for Japanese goalkeeper Zion Suzuki for a number of weeks now but has now chosen to play his football elsewhere.

Sint-Truidense V.V. are 7th in the Belgian Pro-League and that Suzuki has now decided to join them on loan instead of joining Manchester United this summer.

United are looking to sign a second goalkeeper in the event Dean Henderson leaves the club.

As reported by the official STVV Twitter account, Zion Suzuki has chosen to join them on a one-year loan as opposed to joining Manchester United.

It’s unlikely Manchester United made a formal offer but the Belgian side feel they beat the Red’s to the signing of Suzuki regardless.

United are expected to sell Dean Henderson in the coming weeks and will need a second goalkeeper. Matej Kovar could be called upon if they do not sign a player before then.

Suzuki was a player United were interested in for some time. A one-year loan does not mean the interest is gone, but it will filter into the background for the time being.

The number two situation remains unsolved at Manchester United.
