Liverpool have had three bids rejected for Southampton midfielder Romeo Lavia as they have refused to meet his valuation reportedly due to Stefan Bajcetic.

The Reds have been locked in negotiations with Southampton for a while and have made plenty of attempts to bring him to the club.

Every attempt has failed though as Liverpool don’t value him at £50 million and have tried to bring the cost of the deal down.

One of the reasons for this is supposedly because of their young midfielder Bajcetic who is only one year younger than Lavia.

The deal hasn’t been completed not due to a lack of funds but because of how much they value Bajcetic.

He broke into the senior side last season due to how poor Liverpool’s midfield had been and he excelled.

However unfortunately for him and Liverpool his season was cut short due to a long-term injury which he has only just come back from.

He was not able to play in any pre-season games so he will be a huge doubt for the opening day game against Chelsea even though he is in full training.

Liverpool have been in contact for Brighton’s Moises Caicedo so whether they believe that he is worth paying the big money for over paying £50 million for Lavia due to Bajcetic remains to be seen.

It is clear though Liverpool do have funds to play with this summer but the surprise has been that they’ve taken so long to bring anyone in.

Especially considering they knew their first choice defensive midfielder Fabinho was his way out nearly a month ago.

Due to this Liverpool will be going into one of their biggest games of the season, Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, without a defensive midfielder.
