Confusion reigns regarding the transfer of Moises Caicedo with Liverpool and Chelsea going head-to-head for the player.
The Reds thought that their record offer of £111million on Thursday was enough to get the deal over the line after it was accepted by Brighton.
On Friday morning, however, there appeared to be a U-turn by the player and his representatives after it was suggested he favoured a move to Chelsea.
That decision left the Anfield hierarchy in limbo with Chelsea given more time to put together a new bid to rival the one received from Liverpool.
No ‘Formal British Record Offer’ From Chelsea For Moises Caicedo
Despite some reports suggesting that the Blues had bid £115million overnight, Melissa Reddy has reported that no formal offer has been made that has been accepted by Brighton.
The senior reporter for Sky Sports claims therefore that as a result, nothing much has changed despite Chelsea still being favourites to sign him.
As to where this transfer saga goes from here remains to be seen, but it is in the best interest of both clubs that it is sorted sooner rather than later.
