Liverpool could now switch attention to Fluminese midfielder Andre after missing out on Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia to Chelsea, according to the Mirror.

The Reds were heavily linked with a move for the midfield duo but both players are heading to Chelsea this summer.

The West Londoners have completed the signing of Caicedo from Brighton for a £100m fee that could rise to a British club record of £115m despite Liverpool reaching an agreement on a deal worth £111m for the 21-year-old on Friday.

Lavia has also chosen to move to Stamford Bridge ahead of Jurgen Klpp’s side therefore attention would switch to other alternatives. Liverpool agreed a £60m deal for the 19-year-old with Southampton after missing out on Caicedo but Chelsea seem to have hijacked the move.

Andre has been on the club’s radar this summer as Klopp looks to refresh his midfield following the exit of five senior midfielders including Jordan Henderson and Fabinho who moved to Saudi Arabia last month.

According to reports, there is a possibility that the Merseysiders would agree a deal with Fluminense that will allow the Brazil midfielder to complete his Copa Libertadores campaign and join the Reds in the January window.

The 22-year-old has emerged as one of the best midfielders in Brazil following his impressive performances for his side.

Andre has racked up a total appearance of 146 and made six goal contributions across all competitions for Fluminense. Last season, he featured in 38 games in all competitions.

Liverpool have only brought in two midfielders following the arrivals of Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai from Brighton and RB Leipzig respectively, however, they are expected to make further additions before the window closes.
