A former Manchester United player has urged the club to buy one midfielder who has been linked with them recently, comparing him to United legend Bryan Robson.

It is well known that The Red Devils are on the lookout for a midfielder and time is running out, with the transfer window shutting on the 1st of September.

Reports have suggested that United may need to sell or loan a player in the position before they can buy a midfielder, with Donny Van De Beek and Scott Mctominay both linked with a move away.

Fiorantina’s Sofyan Amrabat has been strongly linked to a move to Old Trafford but a deal seems to be less likely than looked earlier in the window, with rumours slowing down.

Ex-United defender Paul Parker has given his opinion to Inside Sport on the potential signing, who he is a big fan of: “He would have got that midfield ticking a lot better (against Wolves). He would have brought people into it. He leads by example.”

“I saw him during the World Cup. I saw Morocco live on two occasions and I watched him and he reminds me of an old-fashioned 1980s English midfield player. The term we used to use to describe was box-to-box. He never stopped, he was quality, calm and collected in both areas of the park.”

He finished: “He’s like Bryan Robson or Paul Ince, without a shadow of a doubt. You couldn’t tell whether they were a defensive or attacking midfielder. They did all jobs.”
