Liverpool and Manchester United look set to do battle for Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat according to a report.
The 26-year-old has been on the radar of the Red Devils all summer but it appears they now have competition to sign the Moroccan.
Jurgen Klopp has lost a number of key midfielders this summer and perhaps was not expecting to see Jordan Henderson and Fabinho depart to Saudi.
Whilst Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai, and Wataru Endo have been brought in to compensate, there is no secret that the Anfield hierarchy are in search of further reinforcements.
Liverpool Lead Race For Sofyan Amrabat
According to La Repubblica (via Viola News), Klopp spoke to Amrabat on the phone on Tuesday outlining the need for a player of his importance.
The outlet claims that Amrabat ‘welcomed the interest’ and Liverpool are now preparing ‘the decisive thrust’ to beat their North West rivals to the signature of a player that is likely to cost €30million.
Amrabat was an unused substitute as Fiorentina kicked off their Serie A campaign with a 4-1 victory over Genoa on Saturday.
