Manchester United’s move for Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat is looking less likely, after a report published today.

The club have been strongly linked with the 26-year-old for most of the transfer window but have yet to launch an official bid for him, with reports linking the two slowing down in recent weeks. Time is running out in the transfer window, with the close on the 1st of September.

The Morocco international impressed at the World Cup last year and ticks a few boxes for United manager Erik Ten Hag – since he has played for him before in the Netherlands (Clearly something that the Dutchman looks for, considering his previous signings).

A report from the Manchester Evening News has dealt a blow to the potential transfer, though. According to journalist Samuel Luckhurst, the interest in the player is “Convenient” and a United official was said to have “Screwed up his face” when Amrabat’s name was mentioned in pre-season.

Amrabat’s contract is up next year but this is allegedly not a strong enough incentive for The Red Devils to take action on a transfer.

United have been more strongly linked with Ryan Gravenberch of Bayern Munich as an alternative recently and if reports are to be believed, he could sign if Ten Hag’s team sell a midfielder first. Liverpool are also said to be interested.
