Liverpool have stepped up their pursuit of signing Fluminese midfielder Andre this summer by making a verbal offer worth £26m (€30m), according to Brazilian publication Ge.Globo.

The Reds have missed out on their top two summer targets after both Moisés Caicedo and Romeo Lavia opted to join Chelsea instead.

Liverpool have brought in a defensive midfielder Wataru Endo from Stuttgart to complement Dominik Szoboszlai and Alexis Mac Allister who also moved to Anfield this summer.

It is believed that Jurgen Klopp wants to add at least one midfielder to his squad before the window closes on September 1 and several midfielders have been linked with a move to the Merseysiders

Andre has emerged as a serious target and Liverpool are hoping to secure his signature this summer, however Ge.Globo claims that Fluimenese will not sell their midfielder due to their involvement in the Copa Libertadores.

Fluimenese are set to face Paraguayan side Olimpia in the quarter-finals over two legs and the club are keen on winning the tournament therefore they are unwilling to sanction a move for Andre.

Andre has racked up a total appearance of 148 and made six goal contributions across all competitions for Fluminense. This season, he has featured in 40 games in all competitions.
