Manchester United will be without Mason Mount for the next two games after he sustained an injury against Spurs, and the obvious replacement is Christian Eriksen. United however, should trust youth, and give one of three players from the academy a chance.
United have infamously gave youth a chance and Marcus Rashford was given his first opportunity after an injury to Anthony Martial. There’s a fine crop of midfielders who fit the bill to replace Mount in the academy.
Dan Gore, Hannibal Mejbri and Isak Hansen-Aaroen.
Back To Our Youths:
Despite United’s 2-1 defeat to Leeds at Old Trafford, these three academy players stood out. Hannibal Mejbri has grown into a fine player since his loan to Birmingham. Dan Gore is Dan Gore. Class in abudance, and very close to being completely ready.
And then there’s Isak Hansen-Aaroen. Hansen-Aaroen is highly rated in Norway, perhaps more so than he is in England. They once viewed him as the next Martin Odegaard when he first burst onto the scene, and the game against Leeds showed signs of the player re-emerging.
In a period like this when the fans are slowly falling out with the club. In a period where the club itself is losing the identify which once made it the most adored club on the planet. The one thing that could draw the fans back into falling in love with the team is to give them youth to support.
Kobbie Mainoo will have his push when he returns from injury, but these lads are arguably as deserving of that push as Kobbie. They are all special talents, and a chance against Nottingham Forest for one could birth a new star.
All eyes on Erik’s decision on who replaces Mason Mount against Forest.
