Liverpool are keen to complete a deal for Bayern Munich midfielder Ryan Gravenberch over the coming days according to a report. The Reds have been linked with the 21-year-old since the beginning of the summer but are rumoured to be facing competition for his signature from rivals Manchester United.
Despite the signings of Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai, and Wataru Endo, Jurgen Klopp appears to be keen to bring in at least one more midfielder before the transfer window closes on the 1st of September.
Dutch international Gravenberch may be the most realistic option with Fluminense standing firm over Andre Trindade and Crystal Palace placing a £70million price tag on Cheick Doucoure.
Football Transfers journalist Steve Kay explained to Empire of the Kop that talks will continue over the weekend with the Anfield hierarchy keen ‘to get this tied up quick’.
“Talks are continuing, the latest I’ve been told is there will be more talks over the weekend. Liverpool will want to get this tied up quick, as there’s only seven days left in the transfer window.
“Look, Gravenberch’s career at Bayern doesn’t seem to be going anywhere – he’s been told now that they would sell. Gravenberch wants to leave.
“There’s the Euros in 2024 in June. In that Liverpool midfield, I think he’d be a star. Even as a rival supporter, I’d be really looking forward to seeing him in the Premier League.”
The Transfer Room Verdict – Will Ryan Gravenberch Join Liverpool?
Many Reds fans believe that a top-class number six is still needed to help share the workload with Endo this season.
It seems that a multi-function midfielder may be the preferred option for Liverpool however before the window shuts. Gravenberch appears to be highly rated by Klopp and his coaching team so if there is to be a new addition over the coming days, it could well be the talented Dutchman.
