Harvey Elliott says Liverpool want to build on their impressive performance last weekend as the Reds come up against Newcastle United on Sunday.
The Merseysiders travel to St. James’ Park with the aim of securing another three points of the on-going 2023/24 campaign.
Liverpool were held to a 1-1 draw by Chelsea in their league opener and defeated Bournemouth 3-1 with 10 men at Anfield.
Previewing the encounter against Newcastle, Elliott told Liverpoolfc.com: “It’s going to be another massive challenge.
“Each and every game is going to be a challenge this season, teams are getting better and better and players that are coming in are world-class players as well. It’s the Premier League, it’s the best league in the world so it’s always going to be tough.
“Newcastle, especially with their team and their fans and the way they set out, it’s going to be another tough opponent.
“For us, it’s about working on these things throughout the week and making sure we apply it at the weekend, which is the main thing.
“Last season we beat them away, so it’s proven we can go out and do it – it’s just down to us to make sure we apply ourselves and hopefully get the same result.”
The England U-21 international added: “For us, there’s improvements there as a team. I feel like we’ve been performing a lot better and playing good football.
“But as I keep saying, it’s just down to us to keep that momentum going and to keep doing that in these games coming up.”
“We feel like we could have won the game [at Chelsea]. We had enough chances to put the game [to bed] and we had the offside goal as well. But to get four points from two games, it’s a great start and we’re just looking to build on it.”
