The move is not a huge surprise with the network currently televising the games of the Pittsburgh Penguins, which is another sports franchise owned by Fenway.

According to a report in the Sports Business Journal (via TribLIVE), FSG will buy the cable channel from Warner Bros., with the deal expected to be completed in October.

FSG, who describe themselves on their website as a ‘Global Sports, Marketing, Media, Entertainment, and Real Estate Portfolio’ already have experience of regional sports networks as they own 80% of the New England Sports Network (NESN).

It is likely that further details regarding the specifics of the deal and what this might mean to the broadcast rights of the Pittsburgh Pirates will emerge over the coming weeks.
