Gary Neville has named two positions Manchester United need to strengthen in if they are to achieve their goals this season.
The Red Devils have won two and lost one this season but have often struggled during matches, going two goals down to Nottingham Forest last weekend and winning against Wolves, who were the better team on the day.
The transfer deadline day is looming and the club are still looking for signings. Erik Ten Hag’s team have already brought in three signings, although striker Rasmus Hojlund has yet to feature due to injury.
Club legend Neville said this on his Sky Sports Podcast (Via Metro): “I think they have to try and do something in the transfer market this week – they have got to try and get players out. Some clubs get players out really well, United don’t tend to get players out really well.
“They’ve got better players in this summer but there’s no doubt they want another player or two, a left-back (With Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia injured) and a central midfield player.
United will play in the UEFA Champions League this season: “I think they need that or else they’re going to be put under real pressure, particularly when all the other competitions kick in.
“There is another one or two players needed just to beef up the squad because of injuries. He does want another midfield player in there to sit alongside Casemiro, so it’s an important week for United before Arsenal.”
United play Arsenal on Sunday.
