Saudi Pro League club Al Ittihad are considering a last-minute transfer move for Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konate after failing in a bid to sign Nice’s Jean-Clair Todibo, according to RMC Sport.

Despite initial hurdles, Konate remains content at Liverpool and is eager to contribute to Jurgen Klopp’s pursuit of multiple titles in the upcoming seasons.

Having faced injury setbacks last season, the 24-year-old emerged as a consistent performer for the Reds, playing a pivotal role in securing a UEFA Europa League qualification after a challenging start to the campaign.

Currently in his third year with the club, Konate boasts an impressive record of 53 appearances across various competitions, accompanied by four goals. His contributions have been instrumental in Liverpool’s victories in the Emirates FA Cup, Carabao Cup, and FA Community Shield.

The French international has participated in two matches for Liverpool this season. However, he is presently sidelined due to an injury sustained after the triumph against Bournemouth.

Anticipated to recover following the international break, he is expected to be in contention for selection against Wolves. Despite his injury setback, there have been speculations linking him to a move to Al Ittihad.

Initially targeting Todibo, Al Ittihad had an interest in the 23-year-old defender, who is also drawing attention from Manchester United. Todibo, though, has expressed his desire to remain in Europe. Despite making a substantial offer to the former Barcelona center-back, Al Ittihad was met with refusal, leading them to shift their focus towards Konate.

With just a few days remaining in the summer transfer window, Liverpool appears reluctant to part with any key players. As such, it seems improbable that Konate would be permitted to leave the club at this juncture.
