Manchester United have confirmed the exit of Dean Henderson to fellow Premier League club Crystal Palace, despite the interest of Nottingham Forest.

United are still looking to get players in and out before the transfer window closes on Friday night.

Henderson is the latest to leave and the club have said this upon announcing his departure: “Everyone at Manchester United would like to express our pride in watching Dean develop into the model professional he has become and we send our best wishes to him for the future. We will be monitoring his progress with an eager eye and hope he enjoys a superb career in the game.”

The Englishman also made a statement on his social media channels, where he expressed his “Deepest gratitude” to everyone at the club who believed in him, as well as thanking the fans and wishing the club the best for the future. There is also a video overviewing his time at the club as both a child and a professional, which he shared.

Despite the acquisition of Andre Onana from Inter Milan after David De Gea‘s exit on a free transfer, United still need a suitable backup and until it became clear Henderson would leave, it looked like that person could be him.

However, the club will have to sign someone else in that position now, with Fenerbache’s Altay Bayındır looking likely to join. It looks like this sale will pave the way for that signing.
