Liverpool made a £100million bid for Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimaraes during the final few days of the transfer window according to a report.

It was a summer of change for the Reds as manager Jürgen Klopp rebuilt his midfield after losing James Milner, Naby Keita, and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain at the end of their contracts. They were then surprisingly followed out of the door by Jordan Henderson and Fabinho who moved to Saudi clubs.

In terms of incomings, Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai were brought in ahead of pre-season starting and they were joined by Wataru Endo ahead of the home match against Bournemouth, and Ryan Gravenberch, on deadline day.

According to Diario AS, the Anfield hierarchy also made a late move for Newcastle’s Brazilian midfielder Guimaraes after the much publicised move for Moises Caicedo fell through.

The outlet claims that the Reds made a £100million move for the 25-year-old during the final days in the lead up to the window closing.

They also suggest that the failed move may not be the end of Liverpool’s interest with Guimaraes still on their radar but Newcastle are likely to demand more than £100million for such a crucial player.
