The Glazer family are still lurking over Manchester United like a shadow that won’t go away. Their presence alone continues to push the club further and further away from their rivals, but the money they’ve taken along the way has done much more damage than that.
When the Glazer family took over in 2005, Manchester United were the club everyone aspired to become. The Manchester City of today if you will. Unfortunately the Manchester United we see today is a shell of the monster it once was, crawling along the sea bed trying ever so hard to get back to the pinnacle of the surface above.
That won’t happen while the Glazer family are in charge. No matter how many false dawns the club have, they will never reach the gates of success while that family in Tampa have any control.
The Glazer Family Have Ruined Manchester United:
As reported by Kieran Maguire, Manchester United have paid £900million in interest to the banks since the club was taken over by the Glazer’s. They have also had pre-tax losses of £320million. And to mirror the words of Kieran Maguire, would you pay £10billion for this club?
The Glazer’s could possibly ask for a bit more than £6billion if they didn’t have a rotten decaying stadium needing a serious overhaul. Leaks on match days. Flooding. Rusting seats. Rusting roof. A stadium that once had a five star UEFA rating is now barely capable of getting a two star.
It’s a fall from grace like no other. The biggest club in all the land is being drained by a family who just do not care. Not phased by the protests, Avram and Joel Glazer just take and take. The problem is, there’s not much to take anymore.
Time To Sell:
They have to sell. They know this better than anyone. Manchester United will not be worth £10billion under their ownership. They’re lucky enough to be offered £6billion as it is.
Stock prices falling a record £600million in one day off the back of news that they weren’t selling proved this. Nobody wants a Manchester United led by the Glazer’s anymore.
All the current leaks to the media. The briefs that they’re not selling, it’s all negotiations. They want as much money as they can drain from this once beautiful football club. Ultimately however, they know they must hand the keys to the sanctuary over.
It could still be a long process yet. Sheikh Jassim and INEOS remain in negotiations. Both men have signed an NDA, meaning no official information of the sale can be leaked. Media silence if anything is a good thing, as it shows progress in the deal.
