Klopp’s name had resurfaced in connection with the national team position, with previous rumours swirling around his potential appointment after Joachim Low’s departure in the summer of 2021.

Hansi Flick became the first Germany national team coach to be dismissed since the role was established back in 1926, following a disappointing 4-1 loss to Japan in a friendly match in Wolfsburg.

The former World Cup champions have endured a challenging period, suffering defeats in four of their last five matches. Hansi Flick, the former Bayern Munich manager, managed to secure only 12 wins in his 25 matches since taking over from Joachim Low in August 2021.

In the interim, Rudi Voller, who previously managed the national team from 2000 to 2004, assumed temporary control. Under Voller’s leadership, Germany rebounded from their previous loss to secure a 2-1 victory over France in a friendly match on Tuesday.

“Jurgen has a long-term contract with Liverpool and is not available for the national coaching position,” Klopp’s agent, Marc Kosicke, told Sportschau.

Klopp penned a deal with Liverpool until 2026. He has won every major trophy as manager of the club aside from the Europa League. He has clinched the Premier League, UEFA Champions League, Club World Cup, UEFA Super Cup, Emirates FA Cup, and Carabao Cup.
