Manchester United have neglected signing young talented players in recent years, but they now look to be trying to change their ways. The South American market has been a hotbed for talent for Premier League clubs, and United have finally focused in on a potential signing.
Oscar Zambrano is a 19-year old defensive midfielder from Ecuador. He plays for LDN Quito in the Ecudoarian league, and has been part of the club for a number of years.
Zambrano made 19 appearances for the Quito first-team last season, playing over 1,200 minutes in all competitions.
United Want Ecuador Midfielder:
According to a report, Manchester United are battling alongside Juventus and Barcelona for the signing of Zambrano. The clubs are aiming for a potential January arrival of the midfielder.
Zambrano has a current market value of under £1million, and could be seen as a similar signing to Moises Caicedo when he joined Brighton. Brighton signed Caicedo for £5.5million from Independiente Del Valle in 2020.
Manchester United are seriously lacking in the defensive midfield department and Zambrano could help that. There is no favorite to win the race as of now, but all three clubs are fighting for his signature.
Barcelona have a history of nurturing young players, and United have a reputation for ruining them. It could come down in the end to which club has the better project for the midfielder.
Oscar Zambrano, one to watch in the coming months for Manchester United.
