The huge question on everyone’s lips this week has been whether Sheikh Jassim has officially withdrawn from the process to buy Manchester United. Some are hanging on to the hope he hasn’t and it’s all a smoke screen. Other’s have moved on, ready to give INEOS and Sir Jim Ratcliffe a chance.

Fabrizio Romano announced exclusively that Jassim had informed the Glazer family he would be withdrawing last week. This was after a new restructured offer from the Qatari group led by Jassim was rejected by the owners of United.

Despite the speculation spilling into this week, and key figures in the deal believing Qatar had not left the deal, Jassim and his team remain adamant they have.

This is according to James Ducker of the Telegraph, who revealed that sources close to Sheikh Jassim are standing firm that they have left the process.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s 25% was due to be voted in on Thursday, but that will not be the case now. There are still some details to iron out before that takes place. The aim however is for the minority takeover to be approved by the next fortnight.

Qatar are defiant that they have pulled out. This does not seem to be a ploy to get the Glazer’s to sell the club. They have withdrawn from the process and no longer wish to be involved in the circus the American owners have created selling the club.

Ratcliffe’s plan has not been laid out yet to the United fans, and if he is successful in the minority takeover, that is something the fans will have to hear. Many want to be informed of what happens with the debt, and whether he will invest in the stadium.

So for now, the answer is that Qatar are definitely out. They had informed the Glazer’s of that, and it’s now Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s race to lose.
