Manchester United have an interest in Benfica midfielder Joao Neves. He is a midfielder that has been on the club’s list of potential targets for some time. The feeling is that he is one of the top names on the list of player’s for next summer.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s incoming minority purchase of the club brings with it the expectation of summer investment. United need signings to compete again, and Neves is someone they really like.

Bruno Fernandes has been with Neves on international duty, and there are hopes he has been doing the Agent Bruno role.

This is according to Florian Plettenburg, who states United’s interest in Joao Neves is indeed concrete. There are feelings they could look to move for him this summer.

Neves is of course not the only midfielder United are looking at. UnitedMuppitiers reported yesterday that a physically dominant eight is a target for Erik ten Hag. Amadou Onana is a player high up on that particular crop of targets.

The Benfica midfielder is a versatile player, being able to be deployed in both attacking and defensive positions. United are in dire need of player’s who can do more than one role in the squad.

In terms of price, Neves has a £103million release clause in his current contract, which runs until 2028. United will need to pay up, as Benfica proved they can be sticky operators during the Enzo Fernandez deal.

Joao Neves, a player to watch this summer!
