Juventus are exploring the possibility of signing former Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson on loan during the January transfer window, according to renowned journalist Gianluca Di Marzio.

Initial discussions have taken place between Juventus and Henderson regarding a short-term agreement.

However, the midfielder is purportedly keen on an 18-month loan deal. Despite being only 33 years old, Henderson is eager to return to Europe, preferably the Premier League, following a brief stint in Saudi Arabia that lasted less than six months.

Although he initially played in Saudi Arabia, it now appears that he might end up moving to Italy.

Henderson’s departure from Liverpool to Al-Ettifaq during the summer marked the conclusion of his remarkable 12-year tenure at Anfield, even though he had two years remaining on his contract with the Reds.

His move to Saudi Arabia, where he joined Steven Gerrard’s team, garnered significant attention in football circles, making him another high-profile player to join the Saudi Pro League.

There are speculations that the England international is seeking an exit in January, potentially through a loan deal that might involve a substantial reduction from his reported earnings of £700,000 per week, tax-free, under the three-year contract he signed in July.

Jordan Henderson has made 17 league appearances, contributing five assists, with Al-Ettifaq currently positioned eighth in the standings, trailing 28 points behind league leaders Al-Hilal.

Juventus face competition from Ajax, who also have an interest in signing Henderson this month.

Negotiations between Massimiliano Allegri’s side and the Englishman are expected to continue over the coming days with the hope of reaching a compromise.

Henderson joined Liverpool from Sunderland in a £20 million deal in June 2011. He amassed an impressive record during his time at Anfield, making 492 appearances, scoring 33 goals, and contributing with 57 assists.

His tenure at Liverpool was adorned with several trophies, including the Premier League, Champions League, Club World Cup, Carabao Cup, and Emirates FA Cup.
