Arsenal are prepared to enter into a transfer battle with Tottenham Hotspur for the signing of former Liverpool striker Dominic Solanke, as per Football Insider.

The online news portal states that Bournemouth are anticipating offers for the in-form forward, who recently secured the Premier League Player of the Month award, marking the first time a Cherries player has achieved this recognition.

Solanke had an impressive December, scoring six goals, bringing his total for the season to 12 league goals and one in the Carabao Cup.

Both Arsenal and Tottenham are actively seeking a forward this month. However, Tottenham have already secured Timo Werner on loan from RB Leipzig until the end of the season, with an option for a permanent deal in the summer.

This move strengthens Tottenham’s forward options, especially with Son Heung-min participating in the Asian Cup and James Maddison sidelined due to injury.

While it remains uncertain if Spurs will continue their pursuit of Solanke despite signing Werner, Arsenal are considered the front-runner to secure the deal.

Solanke committed to a new contract with Bournemouth in September, extending his stay until June 2027. Since his move from Liverpool in 2019, he has scored an impressive 69 goals in 196 appearances for the club.

Although Arsenal were initially linked with a move for Brentford striker Ivan Toney, the England international has expressed his desire to repay the club’s faith in him as he prepares to return to football following an eight-month ban for betting offenses.

Toney, valued at £100m, is in the final 18 months of his contract at the Gtech Community Stadium.
