Liverpool are bracing for Conor Bradley’s absence for the remainder of April following an ankle injury sustained during the clash against Crystal Palace on Sunday.
The Northern Ireland international was substituted for Trent Alexander-Arnold after injuring himself in a collision with Eberechi Eze early in the second half of Sunday’s 1-0 defeat to Palace.
After receiving initial treatment from physios on the field, Bradley underwent a scan on Monday, revealing the extent of the injury, which is believed to be less severe than initially feared.
Consequently, Bradley is expected to be sidelined for the next three weeks before potentially returning for the final few fixtures of Liverpool’s season.
“Conor overstretched his foot slightly,” Jurgen Klopp said after the game. “The first moment and what Conor felt didn’t look great, (but) now I heard a little bit that it’s settled quite quickly.
“I don’t know. Is the ligament damaged or not? I don’t know, so we will get this information tomorrow or Tuesday, but it was very painful for him so that’s not cool.”
This setback interrupts what has been a standout season for the right-back, who has seamlessly transitioned from a successful loan spell with Bolton Wanderers last season.
Bradley has featured in 10 Premier League matches and 22 overall, including a memorable appearance in February’s Carabao Cup victory over Chelsea at Wembley.
However, his absence will be felt in Liverpool’s upcoming fixtures, including Thursday’s crucial Europa League quarter-final second leg against Atalanta, where Jurgen Klopp’s side trails 3-0 after a shocking defeat at Anfield last week.
Additionally, Bradley will miss the upcoming Merseyside derby against Everton, although a potential return for the match against Tottenham on May 5 has not been ruled out.
Bradley joins Thiago Alcantara, Joel Matip, and Ben Doak on Liverpool’s growing injury list.
