Liverpool expect forward Mohamed Salah to stay this summer and are planning on the basis of him being part of their squad for next season, according to The Athletic.
Despite entering the final 12 months of his contract and facing increased speculation about his future, the 31-year-old has not shown any inclination to leave.
This aligns with Liverpool’s own desire to retain him, and it is anticipated that Salah will continue to be a key figure at Anfield.
Salah has persistently been associated with a potential move to Saudi Arabia, especially following Al Ittihad’s pursuit last summer.
However, sources within the Saudi Pro League (SPL) hierarchy indicate that Salah’s preference is to remain with Liverpool for another season.
Although the SPL’s interest in Salah has not dissipated entirely, it appears to be less fervent compared to last summer.
This shift in approach coincides with a reduction in the league’s aggressive pursuit of new signings, as seen during their previous heavy investment.
Despite Al Ittihad’s previous targeting of Salah to bolster their Club World Cup campaign, the current stance suggests a more subdued approach towards acquiring the Egyptian international.
If Salah opts not to extend his contract with Liverpool or sign with another club, the Saudi Pro League (SPL) may consider prioritizing a move for him in 2025.
At that time, he would be 33 years old, and his transfer would not entail a fee, making him a potentially more attractive target for SPL clubs.
