Newcastle United are bracing themselves for a significant approach from Liverpool for their star striker, Alexander Isak.

According to talkSPORT, Isak is a key target for Liverpool, regardless of Mohamed Salah’s future at the club.

While suggestions of a swap deal involving Darwin Nunez have been downplayed, Liverpool could consider other players as part of negotiations.

Newcastle came close to signing Joe Gomez last summer, and Jarrell Quansah was also considered as a potential makeweight when Liverpool attempted to sign Anthony Gordon from St James’ Park.

The Magpies are planning to hold contract talks with Alexander Isak at the end of the season, but they are fully aware that the Swedish striker will be in high demand following his impressive record of 50 goals in just 77 Premier League appearances.

However, Newcastle will face stiff competition for the Canada international, with Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester United, and West Ham all linked with a move for the striker.

Isak’s form played a crucial role in helping the Magpies end their long trophy drought, as he scored in their Carabao Cup final victory over Liverpool.
