Liverpool and Al Ettifaq are currently locked in negotiations over the fee for Jordan Henderson, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Italian journalist claims that there is no chance the Saudi Pro League side will sign Henderson for free as both clubs look to find a compromise in the coming days.

The England midfielder has already agreed a contract worth £700,000-a-week and Al Ettifaq are hopeful of meeting the Red’s valuation for their captain.

He was added to Liverpool’s squad for their 10-day training camp in Germany despite talks still ongoing. The 33-year-old has two years left on his remaining contract with Jurgen Klopp’s side and was part of the German’s plans for the new season.

But he is expected to leave Anfield in the coming days, bringing his 12-year stay at the club to an end after being told by Klopp he can’t be guaranteed regular playing time following the signing of Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai.

Henderson could join his teammate Fabinho in Saudi Arabia after Al Ittihad submitted an official bid of £40m for the Brazilian. He is set to undergo medical this week before the deal is announced officially.

Henderson and Fabinho helped Liverpool win the Champions League, Premier League, Club World Cup, Super Cup, Emirates FA Cup, and Carabao Cup.

If the deals go through, the Liverpool duo will join other Premier League stars such as former teammate Roberto Firmino, N’Golo Kanté, and Kalidou Koulibaly in Saudi Arabia
