Al Ettifaq are on the verge of signing Liverpool midfielder Jordan Henderson after a breakthrough in talks, according to Football Insider.
The online news portal claims that the Saudi Pro League side are hopeful of agreeing a deal with Liverpool worth around £10m for their captain.
Despite negotiations still ongoing, Henderson was added to Liverpool’s squad for their 10-day training camp in Germany. The 33-year-old has two years left on his remaining contract with Jurgen Klopp’s side and was part of the German’s plans for the new season.
But he is expected to leave Anfield in the coming days, bringing his 12-year stay at the club to an end.
Henderson accepted a huge contract offer from Al Ettifaq after successful talks with Klopp who couldn’t guarantee the England midfielder regular playing time following the signing of Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai.
The England international will join his teammate Fabinho in Saudi Arabia after Al Ittihad submitted an official bid of £40m for the Brazilian. The Reds received the offer for the 29-year-old on Friday night and a decision to remove Fabinho from the travelling squad was taken between the club and player.
Henderson and Fabinho helped Liverpool win the Champions League, Premier League, Club World Cup, Super Cup, Emirates FA Cup, and Carabao Cup.
If the deals go through, Henderson and Fabinho will join other Premier League stars such as former teammate Roberto Firmino, N’Golo Kanté, and Kalidou Koulibaly in Saudi Arabia.
