Liverpool left-back Andy Robertson has emerged as a target for Bayern Munich ahead of the summer transfer window, according to the Daily Mail.
The Scotland international is understood to be at the top of a list of potential candidates to replace Bayern’s Alphonso Davies, who is expected to make a move to Real Madrid this summer.
While Bayern acknowledge the difficulty of luring Robertson away from Anfield, they are determined to secure a top-class replacement, aiming high in their pursuit.
Robertson, who joined Liverpool from Hull City for a bargain £8 million in 2017, is highly regarded at the club and has played a pivotal role in Liverpool’s success under Jurgen Klopp.
Aware of Davies’s likely departure, Bayern have been actively gathering information on left-backs globally to make an informed decision on their next recruit.
Robertson is approaching his 30th birthday next month. Despite his age, Bayern believe he can bring a similar level of energy and balance to the left flank, akin to Davies.
They view this summer as an opportune time to explore if the Scottish player would be enticed by a new challenge.
Robertson, having amassed over 280 appearances for Liverpool and securing every major honour, still has two years left on his contract. However, like several Liverpool players, discussions about his future are approaching.
In the sole Carabao Cup appearance of the season on Sunday, Robertson played a crucial role in Liverpool’s 1-0 extra-time victory over Chelsea, with a late header from Virgil van Dijk securing the win.
The left-back delivered a solid 87-minute performance before being replaced by Kostas Tsimikas.
The impending departure of manager Jurgen Klopp may introduce uncertainties for some players.
Klopp, however, has emphasised his belief that many players will choose to continue their careers at the club.
