Bournemouth defender Dean Huijsen has addressed growing speculation about his future amid reported interest from Liverpool.

The Reds have been linked with a move for the Cherries centre-back in recent months, with the summer transfer window fast approaching.

Last summer, Arne Slot added just one new player to his squad – Federico Chiesa, who joined from Juventus.

However, that could change in the coming months when the next transfer window opens, giving Liverpool a chance to bolster their squad.

One position where the Reds are reportedly looking to strengthen is at centre-back, particularly due to ongoing uncertainty surrounding Virgil van Dijk’s contract situation.

Huijsen has emerged as a potential target for Liverpool, alongside his Bournemouth teammate Milos Kerkez, who plays at left-back.

However, it’s not just Liverpool who are reportedly interested in the 21-year-old. Huijsen has also been linked with Newcastle United, Real Madrid, and other Premier League clubs, all said to be keen on securing his signature.

The defender made his senior debut for Spain on Thursday, playing in their 2-2 draw with the Netherlands in the Nations League.

After the match, Huijsen was asked about his future amid the growing transfer speculation, especially regarding a potential move to Real Madrid this summer.

“I’m not thinking about that right now,” Huijsen told reporters this week when asked about rumours linking him with a move to the Santiago Bernabeu.

“I’m thinking about ending the season well, and I hope I do. Then when the time comes, we’ll see.

“It makes you proud that such a big team is interested in you. I’ll keep working, and being humble.”

Huijsen joined Bournemouth from Juventus last summer, and reports suggest he has a £50million release clause in his contract, which becomes active in the upcoming transfer window.
