Liverpool are set to complete the signing of Wataru Endo for £15million from VfB Stuttgart.
Late on Wednesday evening, reliable transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano reported that Liverpool had submitted an unknown formal bid for VfB Stuttgart defensive midfielder Wataru Endo.
The Japanese international has been at the German club since 2020 and has been one of the Bundesliga’s unsung players. Known for his ball-winning ability, the 30-year-old has been instrumental to VfB Stuttgart during his three year stay at the club.
According to David Ornstein of The Athletic, the VfB Stuttgart captain has been granted permission to travel to Merseyside to complete the transfer.
The news of the transfer quickly gathered pace, with mixed reactions from Liverpool fans on Twitter, some of which seem unsure over the player’s age (30).
Romano released his trademark “here we go” over Endo’s transfer to Liverpool at 21:32 on Wednesday evening. He added that medical tests have been booked for Thursday.
It’s a dream come true for Wataru Endo who, at the age of 30, gets his dream Premier League transfer to Liverpool.
Endo becomes Liverpool’s third summer signing alongside Alexis Mac Allister (£35m) and Dominik Szoboszlai (£60m).
