Chelsea’s pursuit of up and coming wonder kids is showing no signs of slowing down, as they have today announced the signing of 16-year old Kendry Paez.

Paez plays for Independiente Del Valle in Ecuador, which is the same club Brighton signed Moises Caicedo from. Paez is the next up and coming prospect from the club.

He will officially join Chelsea when he is 18-years old, and will remain at Independiente until then.

The deal was announced today by Chelsea, along with an official statement from the club regarding the player.

“Chelsea Football Club has agreed a deal to sign teenage midfielder Kendry Paez from Independiente del Valle.”

The Ecuadorian, who will join Chelsea after his 18th birthday, has already built a reputation in South America as one of the brightest and most creative young talents around, thanks to his combination of skilful dribbling along with the vision and technique to open up defences with his passing.

Paez is regarded as the next big thing in football, and has been tipped to be even better than his countryman Moises Caicedo, who Chelsea are also very interested in.

The deal will cost Chelsea £17.27million. Kendry Paez is the youngest player and goalscorer in the history of the Ecuadorian league.

Chelsea will have the player on their books officially in the summer of 2025 when he turns 18-years old. There is major excitement around the signing from Chelsea fans around the globe.
