Chelsea have agreed a deal worth £50m with Southampton for the signing of Romeo Lavia this summer, according to Sacha Tavolieri.
The Blues seem to have gazumped Liverpool for the signing of the 19-year-old who has been heavily linked with a move to Anfield.
It is believed that Lavia will sign a five-year deal with the West Londoners with a one-year option. He has reportedly said his goodbyes to his teammates ahead of the move.
Liverpool have been tipped to make a last-ditch attempt to convince the Beglium U-21 international to join Jurgen Klopp’s side. He has already set his heart on Anfield therefore the Reds would only have to match Chelsea’s bid.
Lavia is yet to feature for Southampton this season after missing their opening 2-1 win over Sheffield Wednesday last Friday in their 2023/24 Championship opener.
He subsequently missed their Carabao Cup defeat to Gillingham on Tuesday night.
Lavia moved to the St Mary’s Stadium last summer from Manchester City and has four years left on his contract, therefore, Russell Martin’s outfit are under no pressure to sell.
Pep Guardiola’s outfit are entitled to 20 percent of any fee received for his services.
He made 34 appearances for Russell Martin’s side last season and made two goal contributions across all competitions.
