Liverpool are pushing hard to sign Cheick Doucoure before the transfer window closes in September but Crystal Palace are prepared to keep hold of the 23-year-old, according to Standard Sport.
Palace have already lost Wilfried Zaha to Galatasaray and Michael Olise was on the verge of joining Chelsea but the Frenchman has committed his future to the club by signing a new four-year contract.
Roy Hodgson is hoping Doucoure would form a strong partnership with new signing Jefferson Lerma throughout the 2023/24 campaign, however, the Mali international is keen on joining Jurgen Klopp’s team.
He is valued at £70m, having just moved to Selhurst Park last summer from Ligue 1 side Lens for a fee of £21m. Though Doucoure is thought to be open to a move to Anfield, he is also content at Palace with four years left on his remaining contract with the club.
He featured in 35 games and made three assists across all competitions for Palace as they finished above Chelsea.
Liverpool have been eager to strengthen their midfield after losing five senior midfielders including Jordan Henderson and Fabinho who completed their transfer to Saudi Arabia last month and then failing in their pursuits of Moises Caicedo or Romeo Lavia.
Liverpool have already brought in Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai and are on closing in on Stuttgart captain Wataru Endo who is in England to undergo his medical later today.
