Curtis Jones is set to miss Liverpool’s second Premier League game of the season against Bournemouth on Saturday due to an ankle injury, according to This is Anfield.
The 22-year-old missed Wednesday’s training session as a result of a swollen ankle, therefore he’s expected to be ruled out of the clash at Anfield.
It is believed that the injury is not a serious and could be back to full fitness following the first home game of the season. He climbed ff the bench to feature for Jurgen Klopp’s side during Sunday’s 1-1 draw with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
Jones was deployed as a no.6 by the German during their pre-season games due to the absence of a proper defensive midielder following the departures of Fabinho and Jordan Henderson.
He suffered a slight injury prior to their final pre-season final game against Darmstadt but returned full training last week.
The England U-21 interantional has been hampered by injuries during his time at the cub so far, however he managed to make 11 consecutive league starts towards the latter stages of last season – scoring three goals and registering an assist.
Elsewhere, Joel Matip was also absent from Wednesday’s training photos, however it is unknown if he has also suffered an injury or was on media duty. Klopp is expected to provide the latest injury update of his squad on Friday during his pre-match press conference.
