Disney+ are advanced negotiations to buy the rights to a documentary that provides an in-depth look into Jurgen Klopp’s final six months at Anfield, according to the Daily Mail.

The daily newspaper claims that the deal will earn the club around £10million.

Amazon turned down the opportunity to acquire the series prior to Klopp’s announcement of his departure this past week, citing concerns about limited access to the dressing room.

Additionally, Netflix has also expressed reservations, leaving Disney as the leading contender to secure the rights.

The project has been presented to Sky Sports and TNT Sport. However, given that these broadcasters predominantly focus on live sports, the proposed asking price is believed to exceed their typical budget for documentaries.

Liverpool officially confirmed the production of a documentary series that will capture the culmination of Klopp’s era at the club on Wednesday.

The exclusive production is set to explore the club’s rich history and its profound connection with its supporters, offering first-hand insights into the elements that contribute to the club’s success, both on and off the pitch, for both its men’s and women’s teams.

This documentary aims to provide fans and viewers with a unique behind-the-scenes look at the club, presenting LFC’s story to a wider audience than ever before.

Throughout Klopp’s final season at the club, cameras will follow the charismatic manager and his team.

The documentary promises a subtle approach, respecting the privacy of the manager and players by capturing moments in areas agreed upon by them, without encroaching on their private spaces.

This approach ensures an authentic portrayal of the team’s journey and the emotional aspects of the 56-year-old’s farewell season.

It will be filmed, directed, and produced by Lorton Entertainment, known for their work on notable productions such as the Diego Maradona movie, the Steven Gerrard film ‘Make Us Dream’ available on Amazon Prime, and ‘Coleen Rooney: The Real Wagatha Story’ on Disney+.”

Speaking about the new documentary series, the German said: “With this being my final season I thought we should provide a rare opportunity for viewers to have more of an inside look at what makes this club so special: its people, from our fans to our players and those who work so hard behind the scenes, constantly in pursuit of success for Liverpool Football Club.

“Thanks to this new documentary series viewers will be able to see what I see every day at this great club, and understand those amazing people more.”

The Daily Mail further stated that “Disney is seen as the likely destination due to the productive talks to date the deal has yet to be finalised.”
